The best answer to this question is, if you have the right synthetic grass product then bad smell is a non-existent concern, even if you have pets! Most top quality Australian made synthetic grass products have a sufficient amount of perforation holes which are designed to optimise the drainage of the grass but also serves the purpose of allowing the pet urine to pass through the turf layer.

Yarn Feel – Many people prefer the softer synthetic grass products which are actually not the most desirable characteristic for synthetic grass. Soft yarn means that the fibres are vulnerable to the UV radiation and they’re more likely to be attacked compared to stiffer yarns. Soft yarn also means that the grass will struggle to support itself and stand up right. Synthetic grass tends to lean in the direction that it was tufted in. The stiffer yarns ensure it has the necessary support required to keep the grass looking nice and straight.
Monofilaments vs Fibrillated Tape & Medium Blades – The tiny little yarns are referred to as monofilaments. If the grass only consists of monofilaments it will likely lean over in no time. Our products are supported by thick fibrillated tape & medium yarn blades which offer the perfect balance to keep your grass looking beautiful 365 days a year.
Stitching – The stitching of the yarn is extremely important as this is how the yarn is secured in place. A good visual test is very important to ensure that the stitching is neat. Each stitch line should be very distinct. When the stitch line is thick, this means that there’s plenty of yarn within the product which is exactly what you want. If the stitching is small & shallow it means that there isn’t as much yarn within the product, which means less support and will ultimately lean over time.
